How to Play Teen Patti
Follow a simple social round from choosing the rules through dealing, turns and final hand comparison.
1. Prepare
Choose a clear surface, a standard deck and a non-monetary score such as points. Name the dealer and agree on the exact variation.
2. Shuffle and deal
The dealer shuffles thoroughly and gives three face-down cards to each participant. Cards should remain private unless the format calls for a comparison.
3. Decide whether to look
If the chosen rules support blind and seen play, each participant follows the permitted process. Looking at the cards changes their status under many common formats.
4. Take turns
Proceed in the agreed direction. Each person chooses only from the actions permitted by the variation. Keep the pace relaxed and clarify uncertainty before continuing.
5. Finish and compare
At the agreed endpoint, compare remaining hands by category and then by tie-break rules. Record points consistently, reshuffle and rotate the dealer if another round begins.
For accessible social play, explain the ranking chart beforehand and keep a printed or on-screen reference available.
Example non-monetary round
Four friends choose points with no cash value. They agree that Q-K-A is the highest sequence, suits never break ties and the dealer rotates clockwise. After three cards are dealt, turns follow the same direction. At the agreed endpoint, the remaining hands are identified by category and compared using the posted ranking chart.
Setup checklist
- Use one complete 52-card deck and remove jokers.
- Choose a dealer, direction and non-monetary score.
- Post the ranking and ace-sequence rules where everyone can see them.
- Explain the available actions before the first turn.
- Set a finishing time and schedule breaks.
Make the table accessible
Read card ranks aloud when appropriate, use a large-text ranking reference and allow extra decision time. Do not pressure a participant to reveal private cards early or continue when they want to stop.
